Condos on Okaloosa Island
Technically a part of Santa Rosa Island, a barrier island that stands between Fort Walton Beach and Destin and the Gulf of Mexico, Okaloosa Island is widely considered to be the part of Santa Rosa Island that is not owned by the Eglin Air Force Base. This part of the island is populated by a number of condominium complexes that offer beautiful Gulf views.
There is a steady market for Okaloosa Island condos due to the proximity of Eglin Air Force Base, Destin and Fort Walton Beach as well as the demands of the vacation crowd and people looking for active living options in the area. A number of advanced technology firms are major employers in the Fort Walton Beach area, creating a stable base of home buyers in the area.
In addition to the close proximity of nearby city centers, Okaloosa Island condos are also close to the famed Okaloosa Island Pier. Lined with unique shops and restaurants, the Pier stretches nearly a quarter-mile into the Gulf. The Pier ends in a large octagon from which people are welcome to try their luck fishing with rods and tackle rented or bought from the nearby fishing supply shops.
Other attractions on Okaloosa Island incude Gulf Islands National Seashore, the Gulfarium and the Okaloosa Island Lifeguard Tower. Of course, there is the beach; over six miles of it on the Gulf side. This is generally considered the best beach in the Destin FL area.
